Hudson- 5000 E. Marginal Way Seattle

On Friday our team did a community service event at Marra Farms.  It is a urban farms and we picked zucchini, squash and apples.  All of the food goes to the food banks in Seattle.  It was a nice couple of hours out of the office but it was a bit hot!  mid 80's which is hot, hot, hot for Seattle.
On the way home Brett, Jessica and myself stopped at Hudson in Georgetown.  I had never been here and had not even heard of it.  Kind of a fun dive like atmosphere.   The menu was full of sandwiches like a Shrimp Po Boy, Philly cheesesteak, French dip and a brisket.  I went for the basic cheeseburger.  It had cheddar, lettuce, tomato and onions.  Served with hand cut fries.
The burger was pretty good but not the best.  The bun had been toasted and held up well .  But the burger didn't have a ton of taste to it.  It was a bit overcooked and not as juicy as I would have liked.  The produce was fresh, the cheese fine , bun good but the burger was average.  The fries were tasty.
Next time I would probably try something else like the Philly cheesesteak.   But it was nice to go out of the office for lunch and to find a new place in Georgetown which is close to the office but one of those neighborhoods I always forget about !

Local 360

I have a couple of friends who have a Friday night ritual of going to a local restaurant called Local 360 for happy hour.  I join them every few weeks and am always glad I did.  A variety of people stop by to see them all knowing that this is where you will find Sandy and Kimberly on the typical Friday.  It's fun to see the friends and we have more then a few cocktails and laughs.
But let's get to the important stuff.  Most of the time there is a need for a burger.  Kimberly and Sandy split one so I am left getting my own.  Not complaining here.  I usually eat half and take the other half home to have the next day.  that was the case this time

Local 360 Burger

I order the burger medium with bacon.  This is a great burger!  The bun is an egg bread and it holds up really nicely and is slightly sweet.  The bacon is good but I would like it cooked a bit crisper.  The burger is extremely tasty and juicy.  I love a burger that you can taste and isn't hid by the toppings.  I want to taste the meat!  This burger stands out.  Nicely flavored and nicely cooked.  The juice runs down your hands.  The fries are a medium cut.  Not the super thin and not the thick ones.  Perfect for the burger.  They are a nice complement but still let the burger stand out as the hero.
I can usually only eat half so the  photo below  is from the next day.  (I ate it so fast on Friday that I forgot to photograph it) the other photo is from a previous visit so it's a bit more fresh.  The cool thing is that even the next day the bun holds up.  The burger has lost some juice on day 2 but that's to be expected.
The best part of the evening is the company.  That just makes the burger all that much better!
I highly recommend Local 360 !  the Fried Pumpkin seeds are addictive and the mac & Cheese will make you believe in a higher power!   Enjoy!

Double burgers

http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/2014/05/our-favorite-double-burgers.html?ref=excerpt_readmore    I haven't been to any of these!  Only one close by is the Portland location.  I'll have to add it to the list.

Hawaii Burger and other yummy stuff

Hawaiian Burger

I have just returned from a week in Hawaii! I went for work but stayed for vacation. I know it's a tough job but someone has to do it. Went with Francesca and Rob for the entire week. Francesca and I worked all day Monday and Tuesday and even part of Wednesday. But then relaxed the rest of the week. On Wednesday night we wanted something easy for dinner so we hit up Cheeseburger Beach walk Waikiki. It was close by and they had ice cold beer on tap and a large selection of burgers on the menu. Perfect beach food. I got the Cheeseburger Hawaiian Style- Cheese, pork, pineapple and Hawaiian Teriyaki Sauce. Overall it was pretty good but super messy. I hate when you get a burger and the bun just doesn't hold up. This burger had so much stuff on it there was no way that bun could survive. I couldn't taste the burger that much but it seemed to have nice flavor. There was a ton of pulled pork on top of it so it was almost like I had 2 sandwiches. The pork was yummy and the teriyaki sauce nice and sweet. Overall I would say it was a good sandwich but hard to rate as a burger since the burger was really under-played. I got the waffle sweet potato fries with it which tasted good. nothing too special. The best part was the ice cold beer- Kona Big Wave Golden Ale. Besides the one burger I had a ton of tuna while in Hawaii which is always delicious. Also a few Mai Tais! But I have to call out one of my favorite things. Not a burger but a breakfast item. On the last morning I went to Goofy's breakfast cafe and had the Hawaiian French toast. Oh My! Loaded with banana's, papaya's and pineapples. The Challah bread was soaked with honey. It was delicious! I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Richmond Virginia

I was in Richmond Virginia this past week for work.  I know that's hard to believe.  When Starbucks started testing lunch the 2 markets were Phoenix and Richmond.  I was super excited because someone had to go out there and collect feedback so I'm the lucky girl.    It was great to get to spend a week with my folks.  Nicest Bed and Breakfast work has ever provided!  One night we went out to dinner at this local restaurant called the Brickhouse Diner.  All of us ordered burgers.  I got the basic Burger with cheddar and bacon, dad just got the cheese burger and mom got the mushroom burger.
It was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time!  You could tell it was fresh, not frozen, and big and juicy.  One of those burgers that when you bite into it, the juice just runs down your chin.  Perfectly cooked.  The bun was a nice sturdy bun that held together with all of the juice.  The bacon was crispy and there was plenty of it.  It was so big that I couldn't even eat  half of it and ended up taking it home.  2 days later I heated it up and finished it off.   Fries were also good but not great.  Mom said the fries were her favorite but I thought they were just good.  They were piled high and the very skinny shoestring type.
I would give the burger the highest score possible and would go back next time I'm in town.
Of course the company for the evening was the best!

I'M BACK!

I'm back!  took a blog break due to a crazy work schedule .  But I've been eating plenty of burgers and have even taken a few photos of some.  I'm going to try to get back in  the routine.  Eat a burger and write about it.  Who knows, maybe someone will start to read again.  Below are a few of the photos I have on my phone .  Some I remember when and where but others, I have no idea!  Thought I'd post them here and get rid of them on my phone.  It's time to find a new burger!
